Goat Lips?

I’m sitting here watching t.v. post doggie walk, waiting for Dave to get back from the hardware store. I’m eating my scone, flipping through the guide, and I see 30-Minute Meals with Rachel Ray. Everybody raves about her, so I click on that. Well, there’s about a minute and a half left on Emeril’s show. So I take a big bite of scone and sit back.

He’s chopping some parsley, a “nice neutral herb” and puts it on a dish he’s just created. He says something along the lines of “It doesn’t get better than this: traditional chicken and goat lips.”

I nearly choked on my scone. Did he say GOAT LIPS? Then he repeated himself: Chicken and Dumplings. *Sigh of relief.*

Sorry Emeril, my mistake.

21.1 Pounds

Leela now weighs 21.1 pounds. It’s getting hard for me to pick her up because she wiggles her 21.1 pounds around in my arms. She is still very sweet and snuggly though. The vet said she also seems to have “growing pains” because her legs hurt her from growing so much. How SAD is this? I guess we will just have to snuggle her even more to make up for it.

In unrelated news, Dave is working on installing the last of 3 new counters in our kitchen. It is proving to be the most difficult, as it involves the sink, the dishwasher, and some unexpected floor alterations. He expected this one to be the most challenging of the 3, but sometimes it’s nice to be proven wrong on these sorts of things. The counters are looking really great though. Our kitchen is going to seem brand new when it’s done thanks to Dave’s hard work.

Favorites and Not-so-favorites

As you can imagine, most of my free time of late has revolved around our new addition, Leela. This involves at least one lengthy walk a day, playing, feeding, watering, etc. Because so much energy goes into Leela’s health, happiness, and general care, I’ve observed a bit about her personality and her likes and dislikes, and I’ve haven’t been able to do much else that is really blog worthy. So, I thought I’d share:

Leela is a fan of:

Dave. She ADORES Dave. The feeling is mutual.
Mojo. She really, really wants Mojo to play with her. The feeling is NOT mutual. (Mojo prefers to give her the stink eye most of the time.)
Her carrot flavored bone. Yum.
Breakfast and Dinner. Snarf. (Seriously Lady, make with the food already.)
Her new ginormous dog bed. She and I fit on it comfortably together and will continue to be able to do so throughout her life. Seriously. big.
Squirrels. Oh, to be able to chase them.
Piles of fallen leaves. (Crash!)
People, especially kids, and other doggies. She really likes it if you play with her, chase her, or provide a lap for snuggling.
Treats. (Girl after my own heart.)
Her Italian donut squeaky toy, and all of her toys, really.
Walks, although she’s like a little more freedom to explore what she wants, eat what she wants, and generally get up in everyone’s business.
The dog park. So many things to like about the dog park.

Leela is NOT a fan of:

Puddles. She tiptoes through them daintily. (It’s her only dainty move.)
This one particular hosta bush on 9th street. Weirdo.
When Davey leaves. (Cry, whine, sob. How could you?)
That giant trash truck that was on the ARB one day. I have never seen such a monstrosity before. No wonder she was afraid of it.
The sound of pots and pans banging together.
