Comic Book Villain Leads Google Foundation

Google has named Dr. Brilliant to lead Google.org, the company’s philanthropic arm.

Okay, so he’s not really a comic book villain, but with a name like Dr. Brilliant, you can see my mistake.

Valentine’s Day = Crepes

Well, that’s pretty much it in a nut shell. Even though we don’t make a big deal about Valentine’s Day, it sure is a good excuse to go to Crepes. (I know at least Kristan is with me on this one.) It is also “bring your sweetheart to the gym” night, so that should be fun. I think Dave will crack all the ladies up, if everyone isn’t out somewhere for dinner. Looks like the plan is also to have dinner with Dan and Kerry, so that will be fun. We have rarely gotten to hang out with them until Dan recently graduated nursing school (YAY!) and got a nursing job (congrats!). Now he doesn’t have to work in Bridgeville and go to school for a crazy schedule. Happy V. Day!

It rains in February.

I didn’t make a New Year’s Resolution to blog more, but I should have. So I’m going to try. In fact, I didn’t make any New Year’s Resolutions. I DID make birthday resolutions because Laura and Bill said I had to. Blogging wasn’t on the list, but again, a valuable February resolution nonetheless.

So today I did yard work. It’s February, and you really shouldn’t have to do yard work in February, but when you don’t do in October when you are supposed to, it really has to get done sometimes. (I love run-ons.) So I thought I would make the work in the spring easier by cleaning things up. I was outside this morning while it was pretty, and I pulled dead stalks from Black Eyed Susans, Daisies, and some yellow flower I have yet to identify. During all of this our neighbor’s way cute orange kitty, Cinco, decided I was playing with him. He jumped in the trash can I was putting the dead stalks in. It was hilarous. He was like cat on crack. Dave has a picture of Cinco in the tree, and maybe if we ask really really nice he’ll post it for us. (Please?)

Anyhoo, it started to rain, so I went in to make matzo ball soup and do “inside stuff.” Then the sun came out, so I got to go back outside (although the sun quickly left! boo). All in all, I was delighted that I got to get everything done I had wanted to do. I thought I *might* get half before the weather got bad. The yard is tidy. Maia is sleeping by my head. Things are good.

Camping is Fun

Camp Crop A Lot is fun. Gretchen and I are neck and neck for nerdiest croppers, but we love it so. The weekend was lots of fun. It took us FAR too long to get to Knoxville due to multitudes of cops in Ohio, which led to hitting Cinci at 5. Ugh. So we rolled into my sister’s house at 11. So sad to miss the kids, although I did take them to the bus stop in the morning. They are getting so BIG! I remember thinking people were weirdos when I was young, and they would say that. But seriously, William in on track to be 6′4″ and he is average for his class. oh. man.

Anyhoo, the rest of the weekend was spend scrapbooking, talking, eating, some sleeping, briefly enjoying the weather, more cropping, more eating, and definitely more talking. Hopefully Laura will post about the adventure she and Gretchen and Gwen had in the wee hours of the morning. I won’t steal her thunder.

Gwen and Gretchen worked on their wedding albums, Caroline on Ellie’s album, and Laura and I on 2005 in review. This year’s review was twice the size of last year.

Also, while I was away, Dave got a new camera. This rocks. He and I will both be able to continue our hobbies. The best part is that between two gift cards and two change collections, it was only $55. Maybe Dave will post the recent pictures of our neighbors’ cute kitty Cinco in our tree to show you how much fun he is already having with it.
