Education = Good

In one of the funniest emails I’ve ever received, I got this picture attached to a message from my brother-in-law. It’s of his son/my nephew. The only text in the message was:

“Trying to instill the benefits of a good education”

Biggest Giant Eagle Ever

Just for the record, the Giant Eagle at the Waterworks is a monster of a store. I got a cool long-sleeved Steelers t-shirt to be festive. It was cheaper than the regular 12-year-old-boy style t-shirts at the neighboring sporting good store! (Dunham’s had a very cute hoodie that I and a fellow Steeler’s fan lacking apparel wanted. But it was 60 bucks, so we both passed.)

Anyhoo, this place is just huge. I mean, not only is there a bank, a Starbucks, and a drycleaner - in addition to the requisite bakery, pharmacay, etc. - there is an entire miniture Hallmark-type store square in the middle of it. They even had Steeler socks! Two kinds - one for adults, one for babies.

I only share this because I was totally blown away. Dave and I walked in and we kind of just stood there for a while, feeling very overwhelmed. But there were places to go and bathrooms to fix, so we pressed on.

In completely unrelated news, I, using the wonderful invention of tabbed browsing, have a list of blogs I read each day with one click on the bookmarks bar. These include the usual suspects of friends (see the list to the right!). But I also check the BareNaked Ladies’ blog. It feels kind of weird to read the blog of someone I don’t actually know, but it is meant for fans like me, so I enjoy it. They have been even bigger slackers than me of late, but today I was treated to a new blog entry from Ed. I mention this mostly because there is a fun reference to Red vs. Blue, and if you know what that is, you might appreciate it.

Blog Mania

Well, considering it’s been over a week since my last post, maybe my resolution should be to do that more often. Thanks to everyone who has posted their resolutions. Good luck. And Dan, we support you in quitting smoking. It’s not easy, but it will be totally worth it!

The weather everywhere is crazy. It’s 60 degrees in Pittsburgh! But I haven’t seen the sun in I can’t remember how long. And a house on Allegheny River Boulevard is sliding down the hill - no really, it’s like the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! house. In unrelated news, I’m learning to knit - thanks Laura! I’m about done with my first project. In further unrelated news, the bathroom project is coming along slowly but surely. I’m excited about it being done and “new” soon.

So this is all random and relatively boring stuff, but the thing I like about reading other people’s blogs is the feeling of being part of their day to day. I miss knowing about the mundane things in people’s lives who I used to see everyday. Now you have some of mine. I’m even trying to convince Caroline and Tiffany to have baby blogs so we can hear updates and see pictures regularly. (New moms are busy you know!)

Well, maybe I can get a picture of that house, or at least my new scarf up here soon. Until then…

New Year’s Resolutions

I want to hear about people’s New Year’s Resolutions. Last year at this time, Tara and I sat in IVP (mmmm) and ate pizza and talked about our resolutions. It was a lot of fun! I want to re-capture a little bit of that fun by hearing what people are resolving to do this year…please share!
